Hi! I've been testing a lot of different tools related to AI for quite some time now. I'm sure you've all followed the recent progress in image generation and LLM: Midjourney v5, Leonardo.ai, chatGPT v4, Bard, copilot, Adobe firefly, and the list goes on... I am fascinated by stable diffusion and how the model learns to create. As you may know, the model adds iteratively noise to an image and learns to reverse each steps until it's not working anymore. If you are already familiar with this approach you've probably already noticed how this kind of engine starts from a general shape and "denoises" it to eventually generate an upscaled image in 20 to 60 steps.
This has inspired me to conduct a creative project of mine. I've started from the rollingstone top100 metal album I've customised to my own taste. Then I added noise by blurring the original cover of each album until a point where only basic shapes were visible. And from this point on, I've tried to reconstruct a new cover, inspired by the swissed project. After having finished this step I've thought of an "original" way to showcase my work. This is when I've decided to build an app to add music to the result and build an actual experience by doing so. And this is how "metalized" was born.
3 days later my first bravo studio app was created and ready to be published. It is now available on google playstore (I don't own a mac so I didn't publish it on apple's appstore). Feel free to test it and give me your feedback both on the covers and the design! 😚🤘🏻
And you will notice the app is definitively not perfect. Indeed, I didn't want to spend endless time on details, adding features, etc. Therefore, as soon as the basic features were ready I've decided to stop and publish it. Besides, I've tried to integrate a spotify experience to the app. But unfortunately, although I could connect and use spotify's API, it doesn't seem possible to play music on a smartphone if the actual spotify app is not launched and active. What a constraint... Therefore I forgot about this feature and decided to add webviews to a video clip on youtube as well as an extract of the song on spotify. I've also built a playlist whose link is available in the app.
I hope you'll enjoy the experience and forgive me about the glitches and missing features.
Thanks! 😬
