Hey! I wanted to show you my proximity alerts app. I was trying to figure out how to filter the alerts list by distance nearby, and I couldn’t find any tutorials that actually covered it—but after months of messing with it, I finally cracked it. Figured I’d share in case you’ve been looking for the same thing and hit the same wall. Maybe this helps.
The database is in Airtable. Here’s what I built:
Filter alerts by what’s closest (within a 2 km radius)
Only show alerts created in the last 7 days
View count tracking for alerts
Repost option (yup—like Twitter)
“It’s not there anymore” option — and once five users confirm it, the alert gets removed.
Show categories pulled from Airtable
Show only the places and alerts created by the logged-in user
User “levels” are based on how many alerts they’ve posted
Show place status (opening soon / open / closed / closing soon) with different colors + emojis
Show “1 hour ago” / “1 day ago” instead of the default timestamp
User creation using only the device ID
Weather + neighborhood/city API so the user’s location stays updated
I’m all ears if you’ve got any feedback.
Here’s the iOS link: https://apps.apple.com/co/app/nort-x/id6481705425?l=en-GB
And here’s the Android link if you wanna try it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.bravostudio.A01HRCX0DWVBZMF3K1EVH5CR8YK
If you have questions, feel free to reach out—I’m happy to explain how I put these pieces together and help in any way I can.
