422 unable to extract identity from the custom access token

Archived from the Bravo community forum (2021–2026). Some answers may refer to older versions of Bravo.

When I try to log in, I get an error saying "unable to extract identity from the custom access token" and can't log in.

There was no problem with the JWT token returned by the API.

Is there anyone having the same problem?

I would say to first check the the scopes you’re passing in there - are you passing any at all? and if so, they should be the right ones the auth endpoint is expecting otherwise it’ll return an error (like the one you shared I’m guessing)
Most common scopes are openid profile email, but which auth system are you using exactly? (e.g. Kinde, Firebase, etc.)

If that doesn’t work, perhaps I would try checking the Authorization URI is correct
