Account Onboarding -> I WANT to receive HTTP error code from Airtable if record doesn't exist

Archived from the Bravo community forum (2021–2026). Some answers may refer to older versions of Bravo.

Hi, I'm new to the Bravo community and am currently developing my first app!

The Requirements

  1. User registers an account, collecting email and password only through Firebase
  2. User is taken to onboarding flow, where additional mandatory information is collected (name, profile picture, marketing consent) and stored in Airtable.

The Problem

  • The issue is using the first method on Bravo docs (https://docs.bravostudio.app/bravo-tags/special-pages/post-login-page-onboarding#example-files), the onboarding flow would only be shown once. If something happens (i.e., user goes off the app, has to do something else) then the screen won't be shown again and I would not have collected their information.
  • Hence I am following the second method on the above docs as this would ensure the back end checks if the information has been stored and decides where the onboarding screen is shown, however I am unsure on how to receive the HTTP error code from Airtable.
  • Right now I am trying to use the GetUserInformation GET request I have already to receive information about a user from Airtable. However, when I test the request with a user.id that doesn't exist, it returns with a HTTP 200 - Ok code (successful..) and returns an empty record. I need it to return a HTTP ERROR code if a record/field doesn't exist.
  • I tried searching how to do it on Google, however all that seems to come up is how to solve Airtable HTTP errors, rather than actually send one!

Some help would be vastly appreciated it!

Same question for me... any help would really be appreciated, since the Bravo documentation is quite short on that topic.
