Email confirmation through Magic Link

Archived from the Bravo community forum (2021–2026). Some answers may refer to older versions of Bravo.

hi,

I have setup a Magic Link email confirmation through Xano and it works fine, to complete the whole thing then I would just need to get to know if someone has opened that link. Do you have any idea on how to do that?

I recently built out forgotten password functionality using Xano. As far as I can tell there wasn't a method to handle the magic link within Bravo, so I built a separate web app that could pull the token from the magic link, and then do an API call back to Xano to validate it.

Is there any chance you might be willing to describe your setup with more detail? I'm willing to build an outside web app to handle token transfer, but I'm having a hard time thinking through the steps.

Sure ! Firstly if you haven't already, I would watch this video and get this Xano snippet, as that does most of the work.

The first page of my web app is a simple form to collect an email address. On submit, I post the email address to a Xano API endpoint (auth/request-magic-link, created by the snippet) which will check the user exists and send them a magic link via email. The magic link points to the second page of my app, with a token as a parameter.

This second page does the actual login. It grabs the token, and posts that to Xano's /auth/magic-login. If that returns an authToken I then store that in sessionStorage, and redirect to the third page of my app.

The third page is a form to enter and confirm a new password. It posts to an update_password endpoint, passing the authToken in an Authorization http header, as that endpoint requires authentication.

Hope that helps?

You can send through email a deeplink opening a specific page of the app?

I have the same question as Fred - how do you DeepLink to the second page of your app? Bravo's DeepLinks docs seem to be saying Firebase is needed, but you mentioned Xano - perhaps you're also using Firebase, but just for the DeepLinks to work?

sorry for the confusion - I don't deep link to anywhere inside my Bravo app, I'm linking to my web app. All of the steps I've described take place in the browser, not Bravo.
