Get better backend load times?

Archived from the Bravo community forum (2021–2026). Some answers may refer to older versions of Bravo.

Hello,

I am currently using Airtable as my backend and I fully understand that as a backend, Airtable is not the fastest. I have a list page that shows up really fast in my app but when I click to see a detail page, the requests takes too long (sometimes 8 seconds sometimes 1 second). I have tried using Xano as a test to see the loading times and Xano seems to be more consistent always taking around 1 to 2 second to show the detail page. However, Airtable automations and the ability to communicate with other software and overall design is more appealing to me.

Can anyone recommend a proper backend or a solution to make Airtable API requests faster?

Thank you in advance

There's no way to make AirTable API requests faster.

It also has a API limit of 5 requests per second. If this is hit then you can't make requests for 30 seconds.

AirTable also can't host images anymore, the attachment URLs will automatically expire and switch to a new one over time.

Overall, AirTable is not meant to be a sustainable backend solution. It's great to get started with but I suggest learning Xano.

Ok, thank you for your answer Jaron. I guess I will have to move to Xano and learn how to properly use it. Maybe there is a way to have Airtable as the database and then some way or another sync Xano and Airtable together. If you have any suggestions for that I would appreciate it too.
