Magazine App (Offline functionality)

Archived from the Bravo community forum (2021–2026). Some answers may refer to older versions of Bravo.

Howdy all! I’m a niche print publisher ( I know, print!) of over 20 years. Over 200 magazines written (from history to philosophy). I’ve decided to host all magazines within an app. Each magazine will be stored on Cloudflare using JSON. Each magazine will have a download button. 40MB IMin total.

  • I was just wondering, if built with Figma and Bravo, my readers would have the ability to download a magazine for offline reading.

I’d be very grateful for a response. I've already designed in Figma and Bravo seems perfect as long as offline is possible.

@Dany Klein I might still give Bravo a go. There may be a work around. Download and store the JSON file locally and display it through a WebView. I adore the 1 to 1 Figma import and don't want to let go just yet.

@Daragh Clancy it‘s not possible even to store with a webview

Hello @Daragh Clancy ,
Bravo is great for dynamic online access to your magazines, but unfortunately is currently not supporting offline reading.
However, there is always a workaround to any problem 😊

Maybe try this option to begin with:
Convert Each Magazine to a PDF

  • Export your magazine as a single PDF file (instead of JSON or HTML-based readers).

  • Keep the file size below ~40MB per issue, which is acceptable for mobile download.

Host PDFs on Cloudflare

In Bravo (Figma design):

  • Create a button and tag it with:

    arduino

    CopyEdit

    [action:open-url]

  • Bind the URL to your Cloudflare PDF (via API or hardcoded in Bravo Studio)

What Happens in the App:

  • When the user taps “Download” or “Read Offline,” the app opens the file in the phone’s default browser or PDF viewer.

  • From there, the user can download/save the PDF locally to their device for offline access.

And regarding webview:

Bravo supports embedding external web pages (like a document viewer). It lets you display a hosted magazine reader (HTML or PDF viewer) from your CDN (like Cloudflare) inside the app.

@Aurika I know bravo studio from inside out, I‘m there from the start lol it‘s not possible so I said no that‘s all

Yup ro all of these potential solutions the most promising of which is to break into smaller chunks. I'll try them all. Thank you.

Yeah, that's definitely a work around.
