Password Authentication with Xano back-end

Archived from the Bravo community forum (2021–2026). Some answers may refer to older versions of Bravo.

Our app has an authentication screen that requires that a user after performing certain actions would be required to authnenticate themselves by entering their user password.

The auth endpoints have been setup and successfuly tested on Xano for custom authentication but we are having challenges with the correct binding. We get an “400 Error:Bad Request” when the app has to navigate to the password authentication screen.

Hey ,

Are you using the default Authentication functionality (it is shown on the top of the API)? Or have you made a custom one.

I would suggest using the default.

Apart from that, the error you got indicates that the Xano server did not understand the endpoint you were trying to hit the way you have it setup. Maybe you are giving parameters when you shouldn't? Or it is a post and you are doing a get?

Can you also check the Xano dashboard and see specific details about that failed request?

Hi Marielle Ibias, below I have uploaded some screenshots of the back-end setups and the bravo tags on the Figma file. The Xano screenshot show the endpoints and that only the auth_me endpoint requires authorization. There is a screen for the database setup as well. My challenge is that on the Bravo api collections screen, the password is not returned as part of the data received from Xano. This causes challenges when binding because, I need users to enter their passwords and have this "auth'd"

You can access the authId, only from the Table you have defined as your authentication table in Xano.

Considering you have this complete, then once used the login/signup function under the auth/ group, then you should receive an access token on the response.
