Profile tutorial - Issue with patch request

Archived from the Bravo community forum (2021–2026). Some answers may refer to older versions of Bravo.

Hello !

I followed your profile tutorail . Well explained but even after watching it and starting like 5 times over, I have a problem when updating a profile. I always get the error message.

What is different on my side is that instead of strings, I have number fields in my airtable. For example, your "years of experience" field is a string while my "post code" field is a number.

In the API doc, while copying the body, numbers are not surronded by quotation marks. Could it come from that ?

I can't see another problem..
Does anyone know about that or has had the same issue ?

Hi Bastos,
it would be really helpful if you shared your current state, especially your request and body so I could take a look :) The number field could be the problem and adding quotation marks to test is a pretty quick thing so just give it a try.

Thanks for your answer !

I tried :

  • converting my number fields to string fields in AT and add quotation marks in BS
  • keep number fields in AT and add quotation marks in BS

Both options don't work.

for the rest, here it is :

{
  "records": [
    {
      "id": "${recordID}",
      "fields": {
        "deviceid": "${device.id}",
        "Prénom": "${prenom}",
        "Nom": "${nom}",
        "E-mail": "${email}",
        "Photo": [
          {
            "url": "${photo}"
          }
        ],
        "Nom de rue": "${nomderue}",
        "Numéro": ${numero},
        "Boîte": "${boite}",
        "Code postal": ${codepostal},
        "Village": "${village}"
      }
    }
  ]
}

The first thing you do when debugging an issue like that is to test with the sample request body Airtable provides. Switch out all of your properties with variables one by one. That way you can find out if the problem is really the number. I'm not sure if you already did that because you already have all properties as variables

Never could make a patch request work. Most of the time, it works in BS, but never updates in the backend.

That is common when the variables haven't been set up properly. Let me know your current setup if you are still interested

Thanks, with the new tutorial I managed  to make it work :)
