the issue with loading images from custom API (domain)

Archived from the Bravo community forum (2021–2026). Some answers may refer to older versions of Bravo.

Dear all,

I hope ur well all,

I am Malik, I am now in developing with bravo studio. I am working on a project for a metrology app. so far so good, but I have an issue. that the image from my domain URL does not work, but on the other hand when i chose any different image (any type of image) from different domain URL works. I have checked the permission of the images folder in our server and everything is fine,,
this is the URL of the API (JSON):
http://met.gov.om/json/ooms.json

the content of it:
{"symbol":"http://met.gov.om/json/images/sunny.gif"}

api ooms.png

api binding.png

......
but when I change the URL to any different URL (image) its works
such as

https://dl.airtable.com/.attachments/fb08a653a0efcda3c4421ece75b42a75/aa65ec01/sun.png

also there is no error in the log:
tail -f /var/log/apache2/access.log | grep Bravo
18.197.147.210 - - [21/Nov/2021:05:48:57 +0000] "GET /json/ooms.json HTTP/1.1" 200 344 "-" "Bravo Data/1.0"

any advice please..

BR,
Malik

Hey ,

This is just a stab in the dark but maybe it's because Your image is not served securely (http instead of https).

Malik November 21, 2021

Thank u for the answer,
But I have already test this using https
From another server in our domain which is used ssl certificate https.

Same issue

Malik November 21, 2021

Yes i have use the gif tag and it's work,, but this not the solution,, as u know I want to use the api,, custom api,, which is call json file, which is has many fildes, such if it's sunny or cloudy, or....
So the pictures should change on the api if something change on the weather,,

same issue with gif tag when the gif image from our domains (servers)

Lukas November 21, 2021

You're right. That was a complete brain fart on my part 🙂 Sorry for that. I guess I need to get a bit more sleep.

Anyway - I've just tried Your image URL and it worked without a problem on my side (Airtable -> Bravo Vision on iOS; although it wasn't animated)

What are You using to test it? iOS or Android?

Malik November 21, 2021

It's ok,,
in airtable its work , but in bravo no.
I used android version.

Lukas November 21, 2021

I've just tested your exact link both in iOS and Android.

It works fine in iOS but it doesn't show up on the Android phone.

I've also uploaded it to my server with SSL and tested it again. This time it worked in both systems.

It seems it's a problem with unsecured links on Android. Could you try to upload your sunny.gif to a completely different server and see what happens?

Malik November 22, 2021

I have tested it from ssl server also from subdomain (https) related to our domain.same issue the image not loaded..if i upload same image in any files uploaders website it works..i dont want to work like that,
..

Lukas November 22, 2021

after all those tests (both yours and mine), don't you think that problem lies elsewhere? This is what we know so far:

the image works on both systems when served from HTTPS (any server)
⬇️
the image works on iOS when served from HTTP (any server)
⬇️
the image works on iOS when served from HTTP (your server) <-- at least for me
⬇️
the image doesn't work on your device (your server)

It seems like it's related to your environment. Maybe you're blocking it somehow on your device? (ad-blocker, domain blockage?)

Malik November 23, 2021

dear my friend i have check every things from our side and every things is correct ! strange.
anyhow i will uplaod any images on anther server outside our domain than call them on my API.

thank u.
