App without Log-in

Archived from the Bravo community forum (2021–2026). Some answers may refer to older versions of Bravo.

Recently my app was rejected by apple, because apple feels a log in isn't necessary for my specific app. My question here is, is there a way to set app an app without a log-in?

To save favourites you could just use the built in ${device.id} variable

Yep. By default your app doesn't have login.

TBH I would avoid login unless you absolutely need it. I'm at a point now where I'm thinking about removing login because the top of funnel drop-off is so steep with login

no lol I find auth requests very convenient and all my backend is built on that

Thank you.
I am stuck, my app does need to know who the user is incase a user needs to add an item. how can I set up my app so if they go to a "add item page" for the user to be prompt to a register page?

Haven't done it but that's a good question. I think there is a thread somewhere on delayed Authentication. Its a good idea though, give users as many features as you can to get them moving, then hit an Auth wall later for personal things.

Report back if you get there

were you able to find a solution?   I was wondering about this use-case also. Is there a way to allow users to navigate the app, certain pages/content, without first authenticating and then only authenticate to access certain other pages/functionalities? e.g. see posts about for sale items without first logging in, but log-in to add to favorites etc.

Have you checked if this is a conditional?

  • If > User Authenticated > Goto Page
  • Else > Goto Login/signup page

thanks however this logic that you shared is no different than a typical auth login process which I am able to do. I am able to login and sign up with custom Xano backend (did not figure out the password reset yet) -- What I would like to accomplish is that to give users, no authentication needed, ability to browse certain pages, and only require authentication if and only if they try to access a page that requires auth and/or if they try to take an action which would require an authentication. For example, if you are building a "Cars for Sale" app (hypothetical example) you would want the users to be able to browse all cars without authenticating first, but require them to sign-in only if they want to bookmark/save a car listing for example, or create a saved search criteria etc.
