[solved - The tag [page:login] will Override ] - Is Deep Linking in Bravo Vision for iOS working? (2023-02-20)

Archived from the Bravo community forum (2021–2026). Some answers may refer to older versions of Bravo.

Solution: (Thanks Pau - see their comments below). If your Figma file has a Page with [page:login], the entire app, regardless of Prototype or Action structure, will require the user to be authenticated first before Deep Links can arrive at a specific page. Note: If you're using Firebase Phone Login, you'll need Firebase Authentication setup to enable Anonymous Login also. It's a separate concern, but one which confused me. (see here**)

Original Question Below:**

Get it? Link, looking deep in thought... Deep Link.

I observe that a Deep Link generated for Bravo Vision on iOS:

✅ Successfully opens my app in Bravo Vision
❌ Does not open the specified page. It seems to open the "earliest" Figma flow item.

So I thought, maybe the URL being generated by Bravo Vision is wrong.

But it seems probably right.

When I inspect the JSON object that is returned by apps-service.bravostudio.app (the link we get by copying inside Bravo Vision and that we feed to the Deep Link Generator):

✅ The data.previewUrl does in fact look like it's pointing at a screenshot of the correct page.

See for yourself - a URL from my app that goes to a Get Started [page:login] page although its previewUrl suggests it knows it's trying to get to the Thank You screen:
https://apps-service.bravostudio.app/devices/apps/01GQ5NY45WHBD2T7MD3DW4DS96/node/01GRKH4CYFHGA99FK0V4XP2P2C

I've tried this on 3 different pages - always the same (navigates incorrectly to Get Started, the JSON object looks correct).

Theories

  • Maybe deep links cannot be used if [page:login] is ever used somewhere?
  • Maybe Bravo Vision's handling of Deep Links is currently broken

If this is an unsafe URL to share for some reason, perhaps someone would be kind enough to let me know. 🙂

Hey Adam, you're correct, in an app with login, deep links are treated differently for a good reason. When an app has a  [page:login] the user needs to be logged in so the deep link work, because if not he could access to a restricted page.

The user can log in and tapping again the deep link should then work as expected.

Please send us a message to support@bravostudio.app with all the details if doesn't work correctly.

Thanks! That mostly makes sense! I'm attempting to test both Deep Linking and Firebase Phone log in.

Is it currently possible to test Deep Linking on apps that use Firebase Phone login? I'm not sure if the limitations of the Phone Login simulation prevent testing past the login screen.

Yes, should not make any difference, simulated phone login uses anonymous login (as answered in your latest post 😋) which is a regular login. So it's not different from a real login.

Please keep us informed, if you find any other blocker with deep links.
