Hello Bravo community!
Push notifications is a useful integration to your app for keeping your app users engaged and excited. We've put together some tips and tricks to help you make the most of this tool and share with you the latest improvement! ๐ฒโจ
Notification Configuration โ๏ธ:
First things first, ensure your push notifications are correctly configured in Integrations and pay attention to any error messages or alerts that may indicate issues with the setup or testing environment.
For instance, encountering the error message "#422 Could not send the push notification. Please reload the page and try again" may suggest that the app isn't open or that the notification enablement hasn't been triggered.
Say hello to the [require:notifications] tag ๐

Now, let's talk about the new [require:notifications] tag and how to use it effectively.
Previously, we relied on the [action:enable-notifications] tag to ask for your permission to send push notifications. This usually happened during the onboarding process when you first started using the app. Without this being enabled, push notifications wonโt work.
So now, with the introduction of the [require:notifications] tag, you can now find this prompt on any page or screen within the app, not just during onboarding!
๐น Where to Use: Add this tag to any top-level app page.
๐น Benefits: Trigger the notification enablement pop-up in various app sections, beyond the device's general settings.
๐น Supported in Final app. Cannot be tested with Bravo Vision.
Choosing which OneSignal account ๐ค
Wondering whether to use Bravo's OneSignal or your own? Here's a quick guide:๐ Bravo's OneSignal: Quick setup, great for simplicity and basic needs like send notifications manually from the Bravo dashboard, and include some actions bound to the push notification (such as go to page, show alert or open URL).
๐ Your Own Account: Advanced features like scheduling and customization, perfect for those who want more control.
Pre-test checklist โ
To ensure that push notifications are properly displayed in Bravo Vision, before conducting your test, check that:
โ๏ธ Your app is open.
โ๏ธ Push notifications are configured in Integrations.
โ๏ธ Make sure to trigger the enable action from your mobile device.Google Play Publication ๐ฑ
๐ App Target Audience: If your app is intended for children and you're planning to publish it on Google Play (Android), remember that notifications cannot be included, as per Google Play policy. For further details, refer to the Android publication guide.
๐ Notification icon Requirement: The notification icon should have a transparent background, white color and size 96x96. If it doesn't meet these requirements, you'll see Bravo Studio's icon instead.

We hope these tips help you maximize the potential of push notifications to enhance user engagement and overall app experience ๐.
