I would expect the button to only change state when it is active in this case. This happens both in Bravo Vision and the Debug APK. What's the fix for this?

Can You show how it looks like in Figma and data binding? I had similar problem once

No not yet, I sent a mail to Bravo about this. They said they'll work on a fix for it. I've implemented a workaround. I've put the same state as the active state for the pressed state, so it doesn't disappear then.
