Implementing Chat Bot / A.I. chat

Archived from the Bravo community forum (2021–2026). Some answers may refer to older versions of Bravo.

Hi all,

We want to build a chat bot using OpenAI / GPT-3 with our stack being:

Design: Figma
Implementation: Bravo
Database & API: Xano
A.I. responses: OpenAI

So far we have Xano successfully calling OpenAI and trading messages back and forth. The issue is displaying them in a 'chat' window in Bravo (based on Figma designs).

Can someone point me to which containers/elements/tags to use to build a screen that looks like 'WhatsApp'?

I have seen the CometChat integration however I do not want a chat between humans, this is to effectively place a chatbot within a larger app.

Any tips or help appreciated!

Great project! Actually cometchat might be the best way to do this as it will allow you have realtime responses, otherwise you will need to pull to refresh the response. You can connect cometchat to any chatbot using their bot integation https://www.cometchat.com/docs/more/bots .

If you don't want to use comechat, then you will have to build the chat frontend yourself on bravo, you will need to break it into small components with parameters and features that you feed from your backend(Xano), and you need to figure out a way to display new blocks of chats on the screen as it updates like refreshing the screen to render with a new reply, let me know if you need help with that
and great project BTW 👍

yes great project indeed. for our app we are exploring the route Toby has suggested above and will see how that works out. our footprint is Figma- Bravo- Xano as well

Actually I have tried to help many user/clients to understand how to apply Bravo tags to Figma designs.  They don't get it.  I quit doing it because it is so time consuming that coding would be easier.  So I hold out hope that with AI Chatgpt we will see something where I can teach the ai how to apply the tags to the design.  Even if it did a first pass, best shot and the human could later go over an make any small changes.  That would truly be a major improvement to the combination of Figma and Bravo Studio.
