Open link in browser on android

Archived from the Bravo community forum (2021–2026). Some answers may refer to older versions of Bravo.

Hi together,

I've created an app that show my blog in an app. I use the tag [component:web-view:https...].

So far so good. On Android if the user click on an external link in the app the link opens in the app itself. There is no way back. If the user uses the "back" button from android os the app closes.

On iOS if a user click on an external link the standard browser opens.

Is this a feature or a bug or is there a way to fix that behavior on android?

Thanks a lot!

Hi  ,
thanks for your help. And yes you understand right. But the problem is the links to open comes from my blog that is included with the [component:web-view] tag.

So on my blog I can't create links with [action:openurl:https:...]

The most links are amazon links. On iOS amazon opens after clicking the link. But not on android. No browser and no amazon app :-(

Hope this "bug" can be fixed in a while.

I am also using an Android device and I confirm that URLs are opening in the Web View. For me, this is an expected behavior, but I understand that it's not good for your use case.

Try adding 'target="_blank"' to the links on your blog (<a href="https://www.amazon.com/..." target="_blank">). It forces the links to open in a new tab, it might also cause them to open outside of the Web View (e.g. in the browser).

Thank you

The thing ist.. I use target="_blank" on all links that went to amazon.

So I don't know if this is a bug? I wrote to the support but no answer since a week. I pay 🎩Bravissimo account :(

I see, that's unfortunate. Not sure if this is a bug or something Android does. Sadly, I don't have any more tricks up my sleeve...

The Bravo team is usually answering in 2-3 days, check your spam folder, my latest support ticket response ended up there.

you're right :-)

The answer went in the SPAM folder. They wrote me back:

At the moment this can't be controlled, but we're giving it a look to unify the behavior in both platforms. What would you want for your app case: opening webview links inside the webview, or in an external browser window?

Seems this is a bug or a feature that can't be controlled at the moment.

Cheers
